The greenhouse-solar dryer type developed at UDES is equipped with an external device for controlling the drying process of food and products from the food industry such as fruit waste resulting from vegetable's processing .
It is an equipment designed and produced to carry out product drying operations by ensuring an easy adjustment of the drying parameters (temperature and air flow) by simply adjusting the opening angles of two pivoting doors located at the entrance and exit of the greenhouse chamber.
The greenhouse is equipped with a device for measuring and monitoring the products to be dried weight variation. These lasts are installed outside the drying chamber to allow the user to follow the progress of the drying operation and to know the moment of the end of the process without resorting to taking repeated samples to carry out the quality controls which require, each time, the opening of the dryer and the greenhouse internal conditions changing. Each rack has its own digital display measuring system installed on the side of the greenhouse.
The dryer is placed on a frame equipped with wheels to allow the user to move it easily to the location where the product is going to be dried, thus minimizing the labor and effort required for handling.
Tests carried out on agricultural-products' wastes coming from the processing of fruits and vegetables show that the greenhouse dryer can be used in a factory for the recovery of this waste for reuse as poultry feed.
