Study Day on the Treatment and Reuse of Wastewater Purified by Renewable Energy at UDES

The Solar Equipment’s Development Unit (UDES / EPST CDER) in collaboration with the Department of the Environment and the Chamber of Agriculture of the Wilaya of Tipaza organized a Study Day on the Treatment and reuse of wastewater purified by Renewable Energy, on May 11th, 2023 at the headquarters of the unit.
The official opening of the day was given by Dr. Abbas, Director of the Solar Equipment Development Unit (UDES / EPST CDER), in the presence of Mr. Toumi, representative of the General Director of Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT), the representative of the Director of the Renewable Energies Development Center (CDER), the representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Water Security Mrs. Lehtihet, the member of the Arab Water Council, Mr.M. Khateb.
Faced with a situation of water stress due to climate change, Algeria must resort to the use of non-conventional water and this, through the exploitation of purified wastewater, to remedy to the significant deficit in terms of water resources.
This study day aims to discuss and find solutions to the lack of water through the reuse of treated wastewater in different sectors, particularly the agricultural one.
Researchers specialized in water treatment took part to the study day. This event aims to facilitate close cooperation and intellectual exchanges with a large number of experts with the aim of increasing the production capacity of water by treatment and purification, it provides a platform for researchers, scientists to debate current challenges, opportunities and future directions in the development of sustainable energy systems for the reuse of treated water, in Algeria.
On the other hand, conferences were presented by specialists in the field, on the sidelines of this day:

Presentations on UDES experience in the field of wastewater treatment and reuse were given by the unit's researchers:
- Experience of the EVER team in the wastewater purification and reuse by Dr. Benhabiles
- SOWAT / moving from the laboratory to sustainable WWTPs by Dr.Igoud
- Study and construction of a wastewater treatment plant for the company Sarl PURPOX COATING by Dr.Madjene
At the end , certificates were given to all the speakers.
