Team presentation :

The Solar Thermal Energy Cooling Production Team (PFEST) works within the Solar Equipment Development Unit (UDES), Renewable Energies Development Center CDER, Algeria. It carries out experimental and theoretical research activities in the fields of refrigeration and air conditioning by solar thermal energy.

The scientific research work of the PFEST Team is carried out in the scientific fields of mechanical engineering, energy engineering and other basic engineering sciences, scientific branches of thermodynamics.

The scientific tasks of the PFEST team are as follows: research in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, research on liquid and solid desiccation systems, theoretical research and optimization of liquid desiccation regeneration systems, theoretical research and laboratory on heat and mass transfer in liquid and solid desiccation air dehumidification systems, digital CFD simulation of liquid and solid desiccation system, theoretical and experimental research on osmosis techniques in liquid desiccation and research in the field of solar sorption refrigeration.

Ongoing project

  • Project 1: Use of solar air conditioning techniques with liquid desiccation for housing

This project is part of the H2020 action plan of the EPST CDER, which aims to support the country in the energy transition by reducing electricity consumption. Its main objective is to realize an autonomous solar air conditioning system using the liquid desiccation technique . The work will be focused on both an experimental and a numerical study of dehumidification systems with liquid desiccation.
