Second Edition of The International Conference on Sustainable Water Treatment Technologies and Environment: SUST-WATER’ 2023

27- 28/11/2023

The Solar Equipment’s Development Unit (UDES/EPST CDER), organized an International Conference on Sustainable Water Treatment Technologies and the Environment SUST-WATER' 2023, on November 27 and 28th, 2023, at the headquarters of the unit.
The official opening of the conference was given by Dr. Abbas, Director of the Solar Equipment Development Unit (UDES / EPST CDER), in the presence of Pr. Bouhicha, General Director of Scientific Research and Technological Development ( DGRSDT), Pr.Abdelbaki.N, Director of the Renewable Energies Development Center (EPST/CDER) and Representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources.

In their respective interventions, Pr. Bouhicha and Pr. Abdelbaki.N insisted on the need for the close collaboration between the world of research and the socio-economic sphere in water industry field , and this to achieve an optimal rate of integration of renewable energies in water treatment and desalination sector.

This Edition is part of the efforts made by the academic and scientific research community to help find solutions to the drought in Algeria and ensure national water security on the one hand, and energy security on the other hand, through the development of sustainable processes in water treatment and desalination sectors.
Algeria has made of seawater desalination and purified wastewater reuse in the agricultural and industrial sectors a strategic option.
The aim of this conference is to promote the use of renewable energies for the development of water treatment and seawater desalination processes in a context of sustainable development for the benefit of the environmental protection.

The Conference saw the participation of a panel of world-renowned researchers who operate internationally in the water sector, as well as Algerian researchers specializing in water treatment and desalination.

Unlike traditional conferences, SUST-WATER'23 is distinguished by the notable presence of the industrial sector, which was able to create through its presentations a link where researchers were able to directly have updates on the field and thus be able to adapt their future works depending on the needs of the industrial sector.

The conference was structured around plenary sessions, oral presentations as well as poster sessions led by national and international specialists in the field of research and industry.
