The Solar Equipment’s Development Unit (UDES / EPST/CDER )/ the Renewable Energies Development Center (EPST/CDER), had the honor of welcoming Mr. Kamel Baddari, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Monday, April 6th, 2026.

   The Minister was received by Dr. Abbas, Director of UDES, in the presence of Mr. D. Tassalit, Director of the EPST/ CDER, Mr. K. Imessad, The Deputy Director, as well as the heads of divisions and the heads of the research teams of the unit.

During this visit, the Minister learned about the various research projects developed within the unit, through a tour of the laboratories, including the brackish and seawater desalination laboratory (DDESM) and the wastewater treatment and recovery laboratory.



On this occasion, the Minister inaugurated the unit's subsidiary, "UDES Engineering Solutions".

   The visit continued at the outdoor experimental platform, where several prototypes illustrating the research conducted within the unit were presented, including:
  • The solar water heater with integrated storage.
  • The solar water heater with a concentrating collector.
  • The autonomous and modular pilot unit for high-purity solar distillation with thermal storage for continuous and scalable water production (AquaSunFlo.Dz72).
  • The mobile brackish water desalination plant powered by photovoltaic solar energy.

Furthermore, several prototypes developed within the framework of the National Research Projects (PNR) were exhibited, including:
  1. A SODIS-CPC hybrid solar disinfection system coupled with artificial UVC irradiation.
  2. A mobile and modular system for disinfecting treated wastewater using UVC radiation.

   Following the visit, the Minister commended the researchers' efforts and highlighted their significant contributions to the development of the renewable energies sector in Algeria.
