Study Day on Desalination and Renewable Energies at UDES

The Solar Equipment’s Development Unit (UDES) organized a Study Day on Desalination & Renewable Energies on March 30th, 2022 at the unit's headquarters.
The official opening of the day was given by Dr. Abbas, Director of the Solar Equipments Development Unit (UDES / EPST CDER) in the presence of Dr. Hadj Arab, Director of the Renewable Energies Development Center ( EPST / CDER), the representative of the High Commission for Renewable Energies, Dr. Selami, the representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Water Security Mrs. Lehtihet, the Technical Director of Fouka desalination station, Mr. Khateb.
Faced with a situation of water stress due to climate change, Algeria places all its hopes on desalination and wastewater treatment, a costly and energy-intensive option, to remedy to the significant deficit in terms of water resources.
This day aims to find solutions to the drought in Algeria through the strengthening of the synergy between renewable energies and desalination in order to ensure national water security.
National researchers specialized in water treatment and desalination took part to this Day . This event aims to facilitate close cooperation and intellectual exchanges with a large number of experts with the aim of supporting the government in its emergency plan, which provides for new desalination plants in order to increase the production capacity of the water by desalination. it provides a platform for researchers, scientists to discuss current challenges, opportunities and future directions in the development of sustainable energy systems for water desalination in Algeria.
